At Ad Gefrin, our whisky is a reflection of place, heritage, and intent. Every drop we create is inspired by the rich history of Northumbria and shaped by a modern approach to craftsmanship.

The journey to create the home for our whisky has been a special one. Our stills received an emotional welcome from the whole community when they arrived in town, and are now in place as the beating heart of our distillery.
Whisky-making in this region is not new. For centuries, distillation took place quietly across the hills and borderlands of Northumberland, where illicit stills once produced spirit for local communities.
Today, that tradition is no longer hidden. At Ad Gefrin, we are proud to bring whisky-making back into the open – celebrating both the ingenuity of those early distillers and the rich cultural heritage of the Anglo-Saxon royal court that once stood here.

Ad Gefrin Single Malt
Currently maturing in our warehouses, this whisky is being crafted from grain to glass on site, using malted barley, Northumbrian water, and traditional copper pot distillation. Laid down in a selection of carefully chosen casks, it is developing slowly, gaining depth and complexity with time.
This is a whisky defined by patience – one that will only be released when it is ready.

Tácnbora Blended Whisky
Our journey began with Tácnbora Blended Whisky – a carefully crafted expression designed to lead the way.
Meaning “Standard Bearer” in Old English, Tácnbora sets the tone for everything we do. It is a thoughtful blend of Scottish and Irish malt and grain whiskies, further matured and finished in Northumberland in a combination of ex-bourbon, virgin oak, and sherry casks.
The result is a whisky that is:
- Clean, smooth, and approachable
- Layered with subtle sweetness and gentle spice
- A balance of tradition and contemporary character
Tácnbora is both an introduction and a foundation – a whisky that honours heritage while pointing firmly toward the future.
