As a foretaste to the exciting opportunities to come, we are looking to appoint an experienced Head of Operations. The successful person will lead the team and ensure Ad Gefrin lives up to its ambitions for outstanding visitor engagement, hospitality, and a warm welcome. This is a very exciting milestone not only for us, but the wider community which has embraced and engaged with Ad Gefrin from the outset.
Subsequently, at an open event on Tuesday 13th September, taking place at The Cheviot Centre in Wooler, we will set the ball rolling for the recruitment of in the region of 50 roles to fulfill the staff complement. The drop-in event will offer people the opportunity to learn more about the roles available and to register their interest before the recruitment process begins from September onwards.
From chefs to retail assistants, and from tour guides to facilities management, there will be a diverse range of positions at all career levels, including apprenticeships. In hosting this event the Ad Gefrin team will provide detailed background information and discuss the company’s vision and ethos for when it opens.
Ad Gefrin is a family run business which aims to become one of the most outstanding visitor experiences in the north-east. The state-of-the-art development, located in Wooler, gateway to the Cheviot Hills, will include a distillery, museum experience, bistro, and shop. Although distilling is scheduled to begin in the autumn, the Visitor Experience and Distillery will be open to the public in February 2023. It is hoped that the staff will be part of and contribute to a significant chapter for the area so, understandably, a new Head of Operations that has a passion for people and the community, an exceptional eye for detail, and a desire for service excellence will be so important.
Commenting, Ad Gefrin Co-founder Eileen Ferguson said: “We are excited to begin our search for the innovative and passionate team that will be at the forefront of operations when we open our doors next year. This is a very proud moment for us. It is really important to us that we support and promote our local community, and we are passionate about, and committed to, creating long-term sustainable jobs for those living in the area.
“Glendale is a beautiful place to live and work but, being so rural, there are not a great deal of opportunities for people to stay and work in this area, but we want to change that. The creation of 50 jobs is fantastic for this community. This team of people are going to make history, no matter what their role. We are looking for local people who will offer our visitors a traditional Northumbrian welcome, which is what Ad Gefrin is all about.”
