The Maxwell family has been dairy farming in Doddington, Northumberland, for over 50 years, having relocated from the west of Scotland. In the early 1990s, siblings Neill and Margaret-Ann began using their farm’s raw milk to create a specialist range of raw milk cheeses.

Building on that success, they started experimenting with ice cream recipes in 1998, which culminated in the launch of Doddington Dairy Ice Cream in August 2000.

The history of The Alnwick Brewery Company dates back to the 1840s, but since 2013 it has been owned by Harry Hotspur Holdings Ltd. Since 2016 this integrated business has been focused on building its brewing capacity and extending its product range.

In 2018, founder Ben Cleary was operating The Pip Stop, his specialist beer, wine, and spirits retail outlet in Annfield Plain. It was there he crossed paths with Alex Redpath, an enthusiastic home brewer eager to turn his passion into a professional pursuit. The two quickly found common ground and began developing what would become Full Circle Brew Co.

After refining their craft, honing their brand, and securing the right location, they took a decisive step forward in 2019, transforming Full Circle Brew Co. from a humble shed in Stanley to a fully-fledged brewery at Hoults Yard in Byker.
